Club Dinner
Club Dinner 2010 - Dun Cow, 12th November
The 2010 Dinner was held at the Dun Cow and our guest speaker
was European Indoor 3000m Champion and three times Olympian John
Mayock. John gave an excellent account of his career with
anecdotes ranging from rooming with Linford Christie and John Regis
to training with Hicham El Geurroj and working for Brendan
Foster. It was a true privalege to hear John speak and enjoy
the company of John and his wife Lindsey.
We were also joined by English 800m Champion Stacey Smith,
England Athletics Club and Coach Coordinator John Stacey,
Serpentine Trail Race Sponsor Alf Walton and Gerry Kearsley
Memorial Handicap sponsor Peggy Kearsley.
The was a long list of nominees for the prestigous awards of
Club Runner of the Year and Club Member of the Year which
demonstrates the depth of participation in the club by
members. Marie Walker was the outstanding winner of the Club
Member of the Year award and special mention should be made of
runner up Diane Baines. Roger Whitehill was voted Club Runner
of the year for his performances over 10k. Gary Hetherington
was once again a deserved runner up. Susan Wallace triumphed
for the second year in a row as Club Supporter of the Year.
